Covid 19 Latest Updates

15th October

Local COVID alert level: high

  • Restaurants can continue to operate, in a COVID-secure manner, other than those that remain closed in law (restaurants in Kirklees currently may remain open as of 14th October)

  • Restaurants are required to ensure customers only consume food and drink while seated, and must close between 10pm and 5am

        You must:

        You should continue to:

  • leave contact details for NHS Test and Trace (you can alternatively check in with your QR code on the NHS app)

  • follow social distancing rules

  • sanitise your hands regularly

  • not meet with any other households indoors including restaurants (unless it is the person in your support bubble)

22nd September

  • From Thursday 24th all pubs, bars and restaurants must operate table-service only, except for takeaways

  • They must close at 10pm (meals should be finished for you to be able to leave the premises no later than 10pm)

  • Requirement to wear face coverings to include staff AND customers in indoor hospitality, except when seated at a table to eat or drink

  • From Monday 14 September, you must not meet with people from other households socially. From Monday 14, this limit will be enforceable in law. (still applies under local restrictions)

  • Indoor gatherings should only be occurring in groups of up to 6 people from the same household or can include your support bubble

  • Businesses will have a clear duty to support NHS Test and Trace. From 18 September, it will be mandatory for restauarants to have a system to collect NHS Test and Trace data (from at least one person in the group), and keep this for 21 days. Core COVID-19 Secure requirements will be mandated for hospitality businesses, and egregious breaches enforced

  • The government will support Local Authorities and police forces to respond to breaches of COVID-19 Secure guidelines. We will launch a register of newly qualified and recently retired Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) so that Local Authorities can recruit more quickly and fill any gaps. In addition, we will introduce COVID-19 Secure Marshals to help local authorities support social distancing in towns and city centres

As a business, we must follow these guidelines

  • Businesses should not intentionally facilitate gatherings between a greater number of households than is permitted in their local area; and should take steps to ensure customer compliance with the limits on gatherings

       These include:

  • inform customers of guidance through signage or notices at the point of booking or on arrival

  • ensure staff are familiar with the guidance, and if any local restrictions are in place

  • ask customers for verbal confirmation of the number of households in their party at the point of arrival

This could help contain clusters or outbreaks)
